About
A family of West Michigan trades, built on flat-rate pricing.
Elevation Garage Door is the trade-side division of Elevation Home Co., a Wyoming, MI family of West Michigan service brands founded in 2026 by Trey Johnson. We're formerly known as GarageDoorsMen — same crew, same flat-rate pricing book, same office on Cottondale St SW, same 616.254.9465 phone number, same 100+ five-star reviews carried forward into the new brand. The rebrand exists because we're growing the family of trades, not because anything changed about the garage door work itself.
Founded in 2026 — but the crew goes back further.
Trey Johnson founded GarageDoorsMen in Wyoming, MI to do garage door work the way he wished it'd been done at his own house: flat-rate, same-day, no upsell, no scare tactics. The business hit 100+ five-star Google reviews on that pitch. It also hit a ceiling — the name only described one trade, and Trey was already planning the next one (exterior cleaning) and the one after that.
In May 2026 the parent brand Elevation Home Co. launched, with the garage door division renamed to Elevation Garage Door and a sister division for soft-wash exteriors (Elevation Exteriors) launching alongside it. The garage door operation didn't change — same owner, same crew, same office, same phone number, same pricing book, same warranty, same 100+ reviews carried forward on Google. The only thing that changed is the name on the truck.
What stayed the same
- Owner. Trey Johnson. Same person who founded GarageDoorsMen and answered the phone for the last several years.
- Phone number. 616-254-9465. Same line, same intake, same routing.
- Office. 5244 Cottondale St SW, Wyoming, MI 49519. Where the trucks and parts inventory live.
- Pricing book. Flat-rate, written down, same numbers we quoted in 2025. Posted publicly.
- Warranty. Same terms. Springs covered the same way, openers covered the same way, install workmanship the same way.
- Google reviews. 100+ five-star reviews, all carried forward via a slow GBP rename (no listing destruction, no review loss).
- Service area. Same 18-city Grand Rapids metro footprint.
What changed
- Name on the truck → Elevation Garage Door (with "formerly GarageDoorsMen" sub-line through August 2026).
- Domain → elevationdoorco.com.
- Email → hello@elevationhome.co.
- Yard signs → New Elevation-branded signs going out across the metro through summer 2026.
- Parent brand → Elevation Home Co. is the new umbrella; the garage door work is one of its trades.
If a friend recommends GarageDoorsMen, they're recommending the same crew you'll reach at 616.254.9465. The new name doesn't change who picks up the phone.
How we work
Most calls come in by phone. A real local person picks up — not a national call center. We confirm the address, the door symptom (snapped spring, dead opener, broken cable, won't close, sagging panel), and a window for the visit. Most weekdays have same-day slots; emergencies route to the on-call tech.
On site, the tech runs the diagnosis on the manufacturer's fault codes (not guesses) and gives you a flat-rate quote from the price book before any work starts. If you say yes, the work happens that visit. If you say no, you don't pay a diagnostic fee that wasn't already disclosed up front. We don't believe in surprise charges.
Every job ends with before/after photos texted to you. That's a check on the tech, a record for you, and the reason most of our 100+ reviews mention specific details — customers can see exactly what was done.
Founder
Trey Johnson, sole proprietor. Lives in West Michigan, owns the company outright, answers the office line most days, runs the truck on overflow. The crew is small by design — Trey would rather train a great tech for a year than hire ten mediocre ones in a month. If you've worked with us recently, you've probably met the whole roster.
Knows: torsion and extension springs, residential and commercial openers (LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Linear, Marantec, Sommer), cable replacement and drum re-spooling, panel and section replacement, full new-door installs, Michigan winter wear patterns on every part of the door.
What we don't do
We don't do scare tactics. We don't tell you the whole door needs replacing when a $189 spring would fix it. We don't push the most expensive opener on the truck when the $549 model is the right size for your door. We don't run "free diagnostic" bait-and-switch — the price is on the website, on the truck, and on the quote.
We also don't service every adjacent trade. If you need garage door frame carpentry, drywall around the opening, or electrical work to bring a new outlet to a non-existent ceiling box, we'll point you to a specialist. The trade is wide and we'd rather do one part of it well than ten parts of it badly.
The family of brands
Elevation Garage Door is one of two trade divisions under Elevation Home Co.:
- Elevation Garage Door — this site. Garage doors, springs, openers, cables, sections, full installs.
- Elevation Exteriors — soft-wash house washing, soft-wash roof cleaning, gutter cleaning, driveway and concrete cleaning, deck and fence washing.
Both divisions share one office, one phone, one ownership group, one pricing philosophy. If you need both trades for one property, the same person quotes them and we can coordinate the schedules.
Ready when you are.
